Dangerous Railroad Overpass & Coal Train + Mixed Freight On Norfolk Southern Railroad Main Line N&W

A dangerous railroad crossing in Ohio on the Norfolk Southern Railroad Heartland Corridor. The narrow railroad overpass crosses the road at a sharp bend just south of Chillicothe, Ohio. Just to the north of here is Deadman Crossing. Some cars beep their horn to prevent a head on car wreck. I filmed a mixed freight train and a coal train crossing over the road here. Coal trains are starting to become a little rare in this area. Coal has really been taking a hit in the past ten years with the price of natural gas being cheaper and EPA regulations making it cost prohibitive for older power plants. I have had a difficult time finding coal trains in the Appalachian region recently. My friend Scott ( 1960gambit ) and I found this spot while looking for interesting places to film trains between Chillicothe and Waverly, Ohio. Trains on this line run between Chicago and Norfolk, Virginia and the main frequency here is 161.190. Just a few miles north of here is a 6 track railway crossing that I also filmed.
